Heavy Diesel or Petrol Mechanic

Westernport Roadlines is seeking interested applicants for one qualified heavy diesel or petrol mechanic.

Heavily committed to school bus runs, school charter, private charter & rail replacement services, the company runs a significant number of buses and coaches throughout the eastern fringes of Melbourne, including the Bayside and Mornington Peninsula area as well as the South Gippsland region. The successful candidate will undertake:

Main Duties:

- Heavy mechanical rebuilds, suspension, heavy mechanical and equipment repair work as required to keep our fleet protected and reliable in the field

- Bus Safety checks & Servicing to accreditation standards

- Participate in periodic bus roadworthy checks.

- Trouble shoot vehicle breakdown issues.

- Perform hydraulic and pneumatic system diagnostics.

- Electrical and air-conditioning systems diagnostics and repair as per qualification & experience

- Mentor and support upcoming trainee mechanical staff

Requirements:

- Appropriate heavy diesel qualifications and at least 3 years demonstrated experience is required





- Good communication skills.

- Basic computer literacy

- Able to work as part of a team with our existing mechanics and maintenance team as well as individually.

- Attention to detail & safe work practices

- Well-developed diagnostic skills.

- Willing to obtain a Heavy vehicle license.

- Must be willing to join the after-hours on call roster.

- Driver accreditation (DC), We will also work with suitable candidates to obtain a driver accreditation (DC).

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

- 8-hour shift

- Regular hours

- Occasional on-call roster

Supplementary Pay:

- Overtime pay

- Penalty rates

Experience:

- Diesel mechanic: Qualified

- Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience

Excellent wage rates apply.
