Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating the administration of Council business, including Council meetings and briefing sessions.
- Supporting Council elections, Councillor induction and professional development as required.
- Providing expert support and guidance on Council’s agenda management software.
- Ensuring the smooth running of all Audit & Risk Committee meetings by coordinating administrative processes.
- Compiling Audit & Risk Committee agendas, papers, and minutes to ensure clarity, conciseness, and compliance with legislative obligations.
- Assisting in supporting an effective internal audit function through planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
- Assisting in the maintenance and publishing of corporate registers (e.g., Conflict of Interest, Gifts, Benefits & Hospitality).
Benefits
Full‑time permanent role with a salary range of $102,368 – $110,865, 12% superannuation, monthly accrued day off, and regular overtime on Monday evenings remunerated in accordance with Council's Employment Agreement and as agreed with manager.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in Governance, Civic Support, or Councillor support in the Local Government sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Local Government Act 2020 and a proven track record of assisting an organisation in complying with it.
- Capability to offer expert advice or regulate client actions in accordance with established policies, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Experience using Council's agenda management system, Doc Assembler.
- Ability to collaborate with external stakeholders and internal teams to address specialist issues, communicate effectively, build relationships, and resolve cross‑functional challenges.
- Understanding of personnel practices such as equal employment opportunity, occupational health and safety, and employee development.
- Knowledge of local government processes and procedures, particularly in the Governance area.
