Technical Officer, Nursing Simulation (Bega) Make an impact at the University of Wollongong (UOW) - a purpose driven institution ranked in the top 1% of universities globally.
About the Role Join the School of Nursing in a vital support role contributing to the delivery of high-quality clinical simulation experiences. In this role you will coordinate and maintain simulation laboratories, equipment and resources ensuring a safe and functional realistic learning environment for students and staff. Please note that this is not a teaching position. You will be responsible for nursing simulation operations and report to the Nursing Simulation Manager.
Key responsibilities - Coordinate nursing simulation laboratory operations.
- Set up and maintain simulation equipment and resources.
- Support practical classes and OSCA activities.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting.
- Monitor laboratory stock and equipment.
- Ensure a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
About the Team The School of Nursing, University of Wollongong is identified as a provider of high-quality professional education and contributing to the generation and dissemination of knowledge within a research-intensive university. The Bachelor of Nursing program is offered at six delivery sites including, Wollongong, South- Western Sydney, Shoalhaven, Southern Sydney, Batemans Bay and Bega. In addition, we have an expansive post graduate portfolio with degrees in Nursing, Mental health, Dementia Care and Health Leadership and Management.
What You’ll Bring - Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in health, science or a related field.
- Experience working with simulation, clinical or technical equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Robust organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements - This position is not suitable for remote working arrangements in accordance with UOW Remote Working Guidelines.
- May be required to work outside of standard business hours or occasionally weekends, as dictated by the Laboratory Timetable and operational requirements.
- Manual handling of Clinical Simulation equipment (>16kg) and sharps in a risk-controlled environment will be a regular part of this role.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical be undertaken to demonstrate satisfactory fitness to undertake the physical requirements of this position.
