About the role
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Portsmith team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on work and is looking to build a career with a global organisation. No laboratory qualifications are required – full training will be provided.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and process soil and water samples for testing.
- Carry out sample preparation tasks, including drying, crushing and grinding samples.
- Operate laboratory equipment safely and follow established procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Follow all SGS health, safety and quality requirements.
- Assist the laboratory team with general duties as required.
Qualifications

- You enjoy practical, hands‑on work and have positive attention to detail.
- You are reliable, motivated and willing to learn.
- You work well both independently and as part of a team.
- You can follow instructions and work safely in a laboratory environment.
- Previous laboratory experience is an advantage but not essential, as full training will be provided.
