Vacancy for Digital Preservation Archivist at ACMI Melbourne, Australia $81,496 - $98,955 Fixed Term About the role Join ACMI as a Digital Preservation Archivist to support preservation, programming and innovation projects and the ongoing management of the ACMI Collection. You will be involved in the daily operations of our media preservation lab, contribute to preservation activities, maintain associated equipment, safely handle and store artefacts, update and maintain operational procedures and guides, and communicate technical advice to ACMI teams as well as industry and academic collaborators and partners. This is a full time ongoing role reporting to the Time-based Media Conservator.

What you'll bring to the role - Experience working with digital collections or archives with a knowledge of digital preservation standards within the GLAM sector and understanding of collection care practices including object handling.

- Experience using digital preservation tools (hardware and software) and processes, including checksum creation/verification, audio-visual analysis, data imaging, and metadata analysis.
- Well-developed work organisation skills including the demonstrated ability to prioritise multiple competing timelines, operating effectively both independently and as a member of a team.




- Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with capacity to contribute to the review and implementation of systems and processes, understand emerging trends and the potential application of new technology in this field.
- Experience with collection management systems (preferably Vernon CMS) and web-based applications for tracking processes and project management.
