Your new role – Visitor Experience Officer

Located in Ulverstone, Hive is Central Coast’s cultural precinct and home to the Ulverstone Visitor Information Centre, Museum and Art Gallery, Planetarium and Tasmanian Science Centre. The cultural precinct at Hive offers the community a regionally significant place of recreation and learning through innovation, creativity and unique design. As the Visitor Experience Officer (VEO), you will support the delivery of high-quality visitor experiences across Hive’s exhibitions, programs and events. You will provide frontline customer service,



accurate visitor information promoting the Central Coast and Tasmanian tourism destinations and assist with operations across all areas of the building, including facilitating tours and activities.

An integral part of your role is to help create a welcoming and engaging environment for visitors by supporting volunteers, maintaining presentation standards and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all. You will play a key role in maintaining Hive’s reputation as a agile cultural and educational hub for the Central Coast community and its visitors.

What we’re looking for:

- Certificate II or higher in Tourism or equivalent (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing role within visitor services, tourism or cultural attraction (minimum 12 months).
- Demonstrated experience working with volunteers (desirable).
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities, including retail management experience (cash handling, EFTPOS and reconciliation).
- Competent digital literacy (MS Office, CRM, ticketing, booking and stock systems).
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with visitors, volunteers, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and initiative in day-to-day operations.
- Knowledge of the Central Coast region’s tourism offerings.
- Commitment to safe work practices and maintaining an inclusive, positive team culture.
- Experience or interest in performing group tours (desirable).

Salary and conditions:

- Casual position.
- Central Coast Council’s Enterprise Agreement – Administration Level 1 ($33.54 per hour, plus 25% casual loading = $41.92 per hour).
