About the role

Sealane Food Service is seeking an experienced Warehouse Afternoon Shift Supervisor to lead and coordinate operations at our Heidelberg West facility. This shift is a critical part of our daily business cycle, with responsibility for people, efficiency, budgets, order accuracy, safety and the timely dispatch of customer orders.

You will set priorities, allocate labour, manage performance and efficiency against KPIs, solve operational problems as they arise and keep the shift working safely and efficiently. Your leadership will directly affect our ability to serve customers reliably and maintain our reputation for quality food-service distribution.

This is a hands-on floor leadership role - not a desk-only position. You will be visible, accountable and actively involved in the operation throughout the shift.

Key responsibilities

· People leadership: Supervise, coach and support afternoon-shift team members; allocate daily tasks; manage workloads; complete rostering and resource planning; onboard and train new employees; and address performance issues in line with company procedures.

· Shift control: Run shift start-ups, communicate priorities and ensure team members understand their targets, responsibilities and safety requirements.

· Dispatch operations: Oversee receiving, replenishment, storage, picking, packing, staging, loading and dispatch, with a strong focus on order accuracy and on-time completion.

· Shift administration: Operate the warehouse computer desk, including printing paperwork and pick sheets, processing invoices and preparing loading sheets.

· KPI and budget management: Monitor pick-and-pack productivity, labour efficiency, overtime, order accuracy, OTIF performance and shift budgets, and take corrective action when results fall behind target.

· Inventory and systems: Maintain accurate stock records, conduct cycle counts and stock checks, investigate variances, and ensure correct use of the warehouse management and ERP systems.

· Safety and food compliance: Enforce WHS/OHS, food-safety and company standards; conduct toolbox talks and safety checks; respond to incidents and near misses; and maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free warehouse.





· Problem solving: Investigate shortages, damages, delays, stock discrepancies and equipment issues, resolve them promptly and escalate complex matters when required.

· Coordination and reporting: Liaise with transport providers and internal departments, complete clear shift handovers, and submit accurate reports covering activities, incidents and performance.

· Continuous improvement: Identify practical improvements that increase efficiency, reduce errors and waste, improve labour utilisation and lower operating costs.

What success looks like

· Orders are picked, packed, staged and dispatched accurately, safely and on time.

· Pick-and-pack KPIs and labour budgets are consistently achieved and actively managed.

· The team is well organised, accountable, trained and clear on expectations.

· Stock variances, errors, delays and safety issues are identified early and resolved properly.

· The warehouse is left clean, secure and ready for the next shift, with a clear operational handover.

What we are looking for - essential

· Proven leadership experience: Previous experience as a warehouse supervisor, leading hand or team leader in warehousing, logistics, distribution or manufacturing.

· KPI and budget ownership: A solid, proven track record of managing pick-and-pack metrics, productivity targets, labour efficiency and operational budgets. This is critical.

· People management capability: Strong skills in team leadership, resource planning, rostering, coaching, accountability and performance management.

· Forklift licence: A current forklift licence is mandatory; high-reach experience is strongly preferred.

· Systems and computer skills: Intermediate computer skills and practical experience using a WMS or ERP. Navision,



Microsoft Dynamics or Business Central experience is highly regarded.

· Operational knowledge: A strong understanding of warehouse dispatch operations, inventory control, material-handling equipment and safe work practices.

· Decision making: The ability to stay calm under pressure, prioritise competing tasks, solve problems independently and escalate appropriately.

· Working setting: The ability to work safely across ambient, chilled and frozen areas and participate in manual handling in line with safety guidelines.

· Availability and transport: The ability to work the fixed Sunday-to-Thursday afternoon roster consistently, plus a current driver licence and reliable personal transport.

· Working rights: Full working rights in Australia.

Highly regarded

· Experience in food service, food distribution, cold storage or another temperature-controlled environment.

· An MR licence or higher.

· Experience leading a diverse workforce in a fast-paced, high-volume operation.
