Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Grade 2 Speech Pathologists to join the Speech Pathology team. Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north. Services are provided through our five main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Grade 2 Speech Pathologist to join Northern Health’s subacute Speech Pathology service, based primarily at Bundoora Centre. This role provides clinical services to the Bundoora inpatient wards, with a strong focus on a Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) caseload. You will also provide care to Transition Care Program (TCP) patients located onsite at Bundoora, and offer services to Kilmore District Hospital as required, with access to a fleet car for travel. You will deliver evidence‑based assessment and intervention for adults with communication, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing disorders, supported by access to Videofluoroscopy (VFSS)



and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to guide high‑quality clinical decision making. The role also includes working closely with the Dietetics team and Food Services to support nutrition and texture‑modified diet safety through participation in audits, staff education, and collaborative service improvement initiatives. The role is underpinned by a strong, well‑established supervision framework, ensuring structured support, reflective practice, and ongoing professional growth. You will enjoy being part of a vibrant learning culture, contributing to our La Trobe University student program and gaining meaningful experience in student education and clinical teaching. Responsibilities

- Delivering subacute speech pathology services including timely assessment and intervention for adults with communication and swallowing needs.
- Providing instrumental swallowing assessments including VFSS and FEES as part of a comprehensive dysphagia service.
- Supporting student education and junior staff development.
- Participating in program development, quality improvement, and service enhancement initiatives.




- Engaging in professional development and career progression opportunities within a large and growing health service.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in the management of adult swallowing and communication disorders.
- Experience and competency in Videofluoroscopy swallowing assessments.
- Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, teach, and support students and/or junior clinicians.
- Well‑developed interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to evidence‑based practice, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
