You're an experienced Fire Safety Engineer and the person everyone comes to with the difficult questions.
You enjoy mentoring junior engineers, reviewing reports and finding better ways of doing things. The problem is your current role doesn't really allow it.
You're buried in delivery and you're still expected to smash targets every month whilst somehow finding time to mentor others.
Deep down, you'd rather be improving technical standards than producing another fire report. and this role gives you exactly that.
You'll still remain technically hands-on, but around half your week will be spent reviewing work, mentoring engineers, developing technical guidelines and lifting the capability of the whole team.
You'll have the freedom to improve QA systems, streamline processes and introduce your own ideas rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
And you'll enjoy this without the pressure of bringing in work or managing endless client relationships.
The Managing Director openly admits they want someone technically stronger than themselves to raise the bar, and they're investing heavily in this position because they know it's the next step in growing the business.
Your ideas will be embraced, you'll be given autonomy and the resources to make it happen.
The business has invested heavily in software, including FDS, Pathfinder and Structural Fire Engineering tools. They'll pay for conferences, CPD, professional memberships and have previously flown engineers overseas to technical conferences in Singapore and Milan. Making you become a better engineer.
You'll enjoy flexible hours with hybrid working available and be part of a collaborative business of around 25 staff where decisions happen quickly.
Longer term, there's also an employee ownership plan where the directors intend to sell equity to key staff over the coming years rather than selling the business to private equity.
If you've been waiting for the prospect to leave a large consultancy and genuinely influence how a fire engineering team operates, this could be the move that defines the next stage of your career.
The salary package is in the $160-$180k + super range + bonus and a wellbeing package.
Sounds great! What experience are you looking for?
