We are looking for a compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and reliable Youth Worker to support young people living in a therapeutic home environment. This is not just supervision-based care, this role is about building trust, creating stability, and helping young people feel safe enough to heal and grow.
You will be supporting two young people who have experienced significant trauma and require patient, nurturing, and consistent care from adults who can remain calm, supportive, and non-judgemental during difficult moments.
The home workplace is designed to feel safe, predictable, and family-like. We are seeking workers who genuinely care, can build healthy relationships, and understand that behaviour is often communication.
What the Role Involves
- Creating a calm and supportive home environment
- Building trusting therapeutic relationships
- Supporting emotional regulation and co-regulation
- Assisting with daily routines, meals, appointments, school, and community activities
- Completing clear and professional shift notes and incident documentation
- Maintaining healthy boundaries while remaining warm and approachable
- Working collaboratively with the care team and external stakeholders
- Supporting young people through challenging moments using therapeutic approaches rather than punishment or confrontation
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is naturally nurturing, patient, and emotionally mature
- Can remain calm during challenging behaviours or emotional distress
- Understands trauma, attachment, and the impact of childhood experiences
- Has strong boundaries while still being warm and caring
- Is dependable, honest, and team-oriented
- Can create safety through consistency and communication
- Wants to genuinely make a difference in a young person’s life
Experience & Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people, disability, mental health, community services, or residential care is highly regarded
- Qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Disability, Mental Health, or related field (or currently studying) is desirable
- Current Blue Card
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Current Driver Licence
- Ability to complete shift documentation and follow care plans
- Availability for sleepovers, weekends, and shift work is highly regarded
What We Offer
- A genuinely therapeutic and supportive team culture
- Ongoing training and development
- Strong management and after-hours support
- Opportunities for career progression
- The chance to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of young people
Important Note
This role is best suited to someone who understands that young people with trauma histories need connection before correction. We are looking for workers who lead with empathy, patience, and consistency.
If you are someone who can provide safety, stability, and genuine care during some of the hardest moments in a young person’s life, we would love to hear from you.
Apply now with your resume and a short cover letter telling us why this role speaks to you.
