About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Economist within our Advisory team, with a primary focus on cost benefit analysis of infrastructure development and environmental economics.The roles can be based in Sydney or Newcastle.
The role will apply economic theory and practice in the context of state, national and international standards to support infrastructure and policy development. You will have the opportunity to be involved in projects across the transport, property, water, environment, education and health disciplines. You will undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis and independent research, including economic appraisal, impact assessment, financial modelling, and policy analysis. Your work will contribute directly to business cases, strategic advisory, and evaluation frameworks that inform major investment decisions.
Working with Rhelm, you would have the opportunity to work on a range of different projects.
There would be opportunities to work across multiple disciplines as well as other regions as opportunities arise. At Rhelm, we value analytical rigour and clear communication. You will be expected to translate complex analysis into practical insights that support informed decision-making.
Skills
The successful candidate will:
1. Have an undergraduate degree in economics, commerce or finance or equivalent
2. Already have full Australian working rights
3. Understanding of cost benefit analysis
4. Capability in the development of spreadsheet economic models
5. Have a keen interest and/or relevant experience in how economics can inform decision making and policy development
6. Have lateral thinking skills and be highly motivated
7. Be willing to learn
8. Have ability to work independently and collaborate meaningfully in a team environment.
The following would be an advantage:
1. Experience with QGIS or ArcGIS and Python
2. Dual degree in related field (eg. engineeering, science, planning)
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills
