Opira is a Brisbane-based leader in laboratory products and services. We hold NATA accreditation in Controlled Environments — testing and certifying biosafety cabinets, laminar flow units, fume cupboards, HEPA filters and cleanrooms for hospitals, universities, research institutes and government facilities across Queensland.

The role — and the deal

This is a hands‑on, field‑based job, and we train you from the ground up. You’ll travel to client sites around Brisbane (occasionally regional QLD) to test, certify, service and repair specialist lab equipment — biosafety cabinets, fume cupboards, centrifuges, incubators, ultra‑low‑temperature freezers, particle counters and more.

You don’t need to have done this before. If you’ve got a solid technical trade and the right attitude, we’ll teach you our NATA‑accredited methods and put you through the certifications. You walk away building a portable, in‑demand NATA qualification and a long‑term career in a specialised field.

Who we’re after

A background in one of: electrical, instrumentation, HVAC / refrigeration, biomedical, or a related technical trade.



More importantly, someone who:

- Follows through and gets the job done without being chased
- Works problems methodically and doesn’t give up when it’s fiddly
- Takes pride in doing things properly
- Can manage their own day and work unsupervised
- Deals with clients professionally

You’ll need

- Ability to obtain a Blue Card
- Willingness to have the vaccinations some lab sites require
- OK with occasional after‑hours work and travel within QLD (paid as overtime)
- Basic computer skills (Simpro a bonus)
- HVAC / refrigeration experience or a restricted / limited electrical licence is a real plus
