Are you ready to apply your surveying expertise to support the monitoring and protection of South Australia’s coastal environments? In this role, you will contribute to high-quality technical survey programs that underpins South Australia’s statewide coastal monitoring program that informs evidence-based decision-making across some of the state’s most significant natural assets.

About the Role:
The Survey Officer is responsible for undertaking and assisting with technical surveys that support topographic and hydrographic coastal monitoring programs, contributing to the management of South Australia’s coastal environments.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Develop methodologies to support the collection and analysis of valid and reliable data.
- Retrieve and store data in line with the Department procedures.
- Provide timely and accurate advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical reports that incorporate relevant recommendations for clients.
- Review and maintain procedures.

- Experience in conducting survey techniques relating to coastal, marine, and estuarine environments.
- Ability to provide timely and accurate advice, recommendations, and reports to management on technical matters.
- Solid capability in collecting, validating, analysing, interpreting, and presenting technical data to support reporting and decision-making.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams delivering coastal monitoring and management programs.

Contract:
Two year contract

Essential Criteria (including qualifications):

- An appropriate qualification in Surveying.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- A current Class C driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4WD.
- Experience in conducting survey techniques relating to coast, marine and estuarine environments.
- Experience in providing advice and recommendations and reports to management on technical matters.
- Experience in collecting, validating, analysing, interpreting, presenting and archiving technical data and information.

Special Conditions:

- May be required to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
- You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia.
- This role requires candidates to provide a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check which must be renewed every three years before expiry. DEW will cover the cost of renewal.




- Inter and intrastate and remote area travel is required, including travel in light aircraft.
- Will be required to undertake intra or interstate travel, occasional overnight absences, and work outside of the normal hours of work.

A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months. This information must be supplied by all applicants who are shortlisted for interview.

Remuneration:
TGO2, $80,794 min - $85,776 max p.a.
