The Aboriginal Engagement and Native Title division leads whole-of-Government efforts to elevate the Aboriginal Affairs portfolio, advance Native Title outcomes and drive systemic change. Its focus is to improve the economic prosperity, cultural wellbeing and long‑term opportunities of Aboriginal people and communities across Western Australia.
About the Role
Assistant Director – Strategic Policy and Coordination
This role leads a team responsible for driving strategic policy reform and whole‑of‑government coordination to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people across Western Australia. Working closely with the Executive Director, you will provide high‑level policy advice on complex and sensitive issues, lead cross‑agency initiatives, and support implementation of key Government commitments, including the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and native title agreements and settlements.
This position is suited to policy leaders who thrive in complex stakeholder environments, enjoy influencing strategic direction across government, and have a solid interest in policy reform and system‑wide change.
Assistant Director – Native Title Negotiation and Advisory
This role leads a team focused on strategic native title policy, negotiation support and whole‑of‑government coordination of significant projects. Working closely with the Special Advisor Native Title, you will provide high‑level advice on complex and emerging issues, support Government priorities linked to native title and Aboriginal empowerment and help shape approaches to significant future act negotiations and related policy.
This position is suited to policy leaders who enjoy working at the intersection of government priorities, Aboriginal engagement and complex negotiations, and who are interested in delivering practical outcomes through strategic policy advice and collaboration.
