About the Role:One Rail Australia is preparing for a growth phase in QLD. To support this growth we are seeking to establish a pool of Casual Qualified Locomotive Drivers based at our Sarina depot. The core purpose of the role is to provide casual support to operate locomotives where One Rails' full time drivers are not available under their normal roster or where we are unable to cover the operational requirement through overtime. The work will primarily cover short notice movements between Jilalan and our maintenance facility in Mackay.
In addition to the above, your key responsibilities will also include:Operate locomotives in a safe and effective mannerCarry out shunting at yards, depots and sidings and carry out the examination of trains, including the conducting of brake and continuity testsCarry out preparation, stabling, turning, and assembling of locomotivesCarry out roll-by inspectionsCorrect and reset minor on-road faults and diagnose and liaise with specialist staff for major on-road faults and failuresOperate, in accordance with correct procedures, all communications equipment and prepare documentation associated with the operation of the trainDrive motor vehicles
About You:You will be part of the train crew servicing our Sarina Operation. You will work on highly technologically advanced locomotives and rollingstock and will play a key role in the ongoing success of the operation. This is a 24/7 operation,



therefore you must be available to work various shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
Skills & Qualifications:Certificate IV in Train DrivingRecent practical experience working on diesel locomotivesA basic working knowledge of safe-working procedures in a railway environmentA current unrestricted motor vehicle drivers’ licenceA strong commitment to following rules and operating safelyStrong communication skillsA willingness to be part of a teamA high level of concentrationCurrent Safeworking qualificationExperience in the Goonyella System in both Aurizon and QR Networks is highly desirable
