DTMT Logistics is seeking an experienced Statewide Pilot/Local HR/HC Driver to join our dynamic transport operations team. This is a full-time position based in Bibra Lake, Western Australia. As a Statewide Pilot/Local MC Driver, you will play a crucial role in our logistics and transport operations, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of oversized and heavy loads across Western Australia. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for reliable and professional transport services whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant road transport regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Operate heavy vehicles and pilot vehicles in accordance with all relevant legislation, regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy and safe for operation
- Transport oversized and heavy loads across Western Australia, navigating complex routes and managing traffic coordination
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, customers and other team members to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery
- Maintain accurate logbooks, documentation and records of journeys, fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance
- Adhere strictly to load securing requirements, weight distribution standards and safety protocols
- Pilot escort vehicles where required, providing guidance and ensuring the safety of oversized loads on public roads
- Respond professionally to roadside situations and implement appropriate safety measures
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle at all times
- Contribute to a positive safety culture and report any hazards or incidents immediately
What we're looking for
- Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence, with pilot vehicle endorsement or the ability to obtain one
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience driving heavy vehicles in a commercial transport environment
- Current or ability to obtain a MC Driver's Licence
- Demonstrated knowledge of heavy vehicle safety regulations, load securing standards and road transport legislation
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts, late finishes and weekend work
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks associated with load securing and vehicle operations
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation
- Experience with oversized load operations or pilot escort duties is highly desirable
