Director of Infrastructure & Development
Walcha Council serves one of New South Wales1s most distinctive high country regions, supporting a close-knit community across more than 6,400 km2 of productive agricultural land, national parks and rural villages. With a new Executive Leadership Team in place and significant infrastructure investment on the horizon, Council is focused on strengthening organisational capability, delivering major infrastructure programs and building a financially sustainable future for the region. Role and Priorities The Director Infrastructure & Development is a key member of Councils Executive Leadership Team, responsible for leading one of Councils largest and most diverse portfolios. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across infrastructure, planning and development services while strengthening organisational capability and delivering major infrastructure investment across the region. Priorities include: Leading infrastructure, planning and development teams Delivering a significant roads reconstruction and infrastructure program Overseeing roads, water, wastewater, waste, assets and capital works Strengthening long-term asset management and infrastructure planning Building workforce capability,
accountability and organisational performance Providing strategic advice to the General Manager and Councillors. Your Experience and Approach You bring senior leadership experience in infrastructure, engineering or asset management within local government or a comparable environment. You are organised, decisive and politically aware. You understand how to balance operational service delivery with long-term planning and are comfortable leading change while maintaining strong business-as-usual performance. You build productive relationships, communicate with confidence and develop capable teams that deliver results. Tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related discipline are essential.
