New Aim

Melbourne
New Aim is Australia's largest private ecommerce company — the infrastructure behind the retailers Australians shop with every day. Since 2005, our products have reached more than 70% of Australian homes through 30+ major retail channels.
We don't bolt AI onto our products. It is the product. AimCore, our proprietary platform, runs the entire value chain as a single decision engine — from container allocation to pricing to courier selection. AirOxy, our AI-powered intelligence platform, turns 100M+ market data points into live commercial decisions. Dropshipzone connects thousands of Australian SMEs into that same infrastructure.
Here, a valuable spec doesn't sit in a backlog — it moves inventory, sets prices, and reaches real homes within days. If you want AI-first product management to be your operating reality, not your ambition, you'll feel at home.
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior PM who doesn't just use AI tools — they think in AI-first terms. You'll own product areas where the right answer isn't "build a feature," it's "design a system where AI does the heavy lifting." This role requires someone who is genuinely excited about what large language models, agents, and automation can unlock, and equally rigorous about where they fail. When speed matters, you close the gap yourself — standing up functional MVP mini apps using AI‑assisted development tools rather than waiting for engineering capacity.
You’ll work alongside engineers, data scientists, and commercial stakeholders to ship products that are smarter by default — not AI‑washed, but genuinely transformed.
What You’ll Do
- Define and own the roadmap for product areas where AI/ML is a core mechanism, not a bolt-on
- Identify opportunities to replace manual workflows, fragmented UX, or slow feedback loops with AI‑powered capabilities
- Translate ambiguous business problems into clear product bets, with measurable outcomes
AI‑Specific Product Work
- Partner with data science and engineering to scope, evaluate, and ship LLM‑powered features (agents, summarisation, classification, recommendations, automation)
- Write detailed AI product specs: define inputs, outputs, failure modes, confidence thresholds, human‑in‑the‑loop triggers, and evaluation criteria
- Own the feedback loop — design how the product learns from usage and improves over time
- Hold a high bar for AI quality: define what "good" looks like before shipping, not after
Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Drive alignment across engineering, design, data, operations, and commercial teams
- Communicate product decisions — and the AI tradeoffs behind them — to senior stakeholders clearly and without jargon
- Coach less experienced PMs on AI product thinking
Discovery & Validation
- Run rapid experiments using AI prototyping tools (e.g. LLM APIs, no‑code AI builders) to test hypotheses before committing engineering resources
- Synthesise qualitative and quantitative signals (user research, usage data, model metrics) into prioritisation decisions
What We’re Looking For
Must Have
- 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 1–2 years owning a product where AI/ML was central (not decorative)
- Demonstrated ability to write specs for AI features — you understand prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation, agentic workflows, or model evaluation at a conceptual level
- Comfortable reading model performance data, error analysis, and A/B results — you don't need to run the experiments, but you need to interpret them
- Strong written communication: your PRDs, proposals, and Slack messages are clear and concise
- High agency — you move fast, unblock yourself, and elevate only when necessary
Strong Advantage
- Experience in e‑commerce, marketplace, B2B SaaS, or logistics
- Hands‑on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) — even side projects count
- Familiarity with agentic product patterns: tool use, multi‑step reasoning, human‑in‑the‑loop design
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin (our supplier ecosystem is largely China‑based)
Mindset
- You treat AI as a capability constraint to design around, not a magic wand
- You're honest about what AI can't do yet, and you build fallbacks
- You read widely — research papers, product teardowns, failure post‑mortems
- You're uncomfortable shipping something you can't measure
What Good Looks Like in This Role
In your first 90 days, you will have:
- Shipped or materially progressed at least one AI‑powered feature from spec to production
- Built a clear evaluation framework for the product area you own
- Established trust with your engineering and data science counterparts through quality specs and fast decisions
Why This Role
AI is changing what product management means. This role is for someone who wants to be at the front of that change — not managing a backlog of incremental improvements, but rethinking what the product can be when intelligence is a first‑class component.
