Working at Achieve is more than just a job. Our team makes a real difference in people’s lives every day – and we make sure to support our staff too. We create a workplace where everyone feels safe to be themselves. We welcome people from all backgrounds because we know that different experiences, languages, and cultures help us better support our clients and make Achieve stronger. We’re committed to ensuring everyone can take part – whether that’s through physical access or by making sure people feel included in how things are done and how decisions are made.

Achieve Australia is a for‑purpose community organisation that provides services to people with disability and is an NDIS‑registered provider.

About the role

As a Disability Support Worker at Achieve Australia, your primary goal is to provide person‑centered, quality support services to people with a disability. You will support our clients to set and reach goals that are important to them and make decisions about how best to live the life they choose.

It is a genuine occupational requirement that the position is held by a female support worker, and the exemption in section 25 of the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1991 applies.

Role Responsibilities

- Provide an enjoyable, respectful, and safe environment for all people we support.
- Provide personal/physical care and support to clients, including grooming, toileting, meal preparation and assistance, home support, transport, and medication administration.

- Support the use of physical and communication aids and devices and other personal equipment where required.
- Provide support that will enable clients to participate successfully in individual interests, hobbies, and relationships in the community.
- Support clients to access recreational services, transport services (including public transport, taxis, and Achieve Australia vehicles).
- Advocate for and assist clients, their families, and significant people in their lives to access and engage with the community.
- Complete client documentation, including writing case notes, updating our client management system, communication booklets, and medical documentation.

To be successful in this role, you will need

- Relevant qualifications (minimum Cert IV in Disability or Individual Support).
- Strong interpersonal, role‑modeling, and customer service skills.
- Problem‑solving abilities with an ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Understanding of and commitment to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Code of Conduct and Workplace Health and Safety.
- Awareness of human rights and challenges facing individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to transport clients in Achieve Australia vehicles (automatic gearbox) across the region. Candidates without a current QLD driver’s licence are subject to a risk assessment.

- Experience in working with and supporting adults and/or children with complex disability.

Outstanding employee benefits

- Salary packaging options – keep more of your take‑home pay before tax.
- Car leasing as a salary packaging option.
- Free personal and financial counselling for you and your family.
- Range of paid leave and flexible work arrangements.
- Support for a healthy lifestyle, access to fitness passport memberships and wellness programs.
- Regular training and support to succeed in your role, including paid induction for frontline staff.
- Strong record of promoting from within.

Background checks

As part of applying for a job with us, you might need to go through some checks before you start. These could include:

- Reference checks
- National Police check
- NDIS Worker Check
