Senior Claims Specialist – Financial Lines

In this role, you will manage and resolve AXA XL’s Financial Lines (FI, ML and PI) claims as part of the Claims team; work closely with the Financial Lines Claims Manager, Head of Claims and fellow Claims Specialists to drive files to resolution; interact and collaborate frequently with Regional Practice Leaders and the Underwriting team; share claims insights and trends with local and APAC Europe claims and actuarial teams, and achieve the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

What you’ll be doing

- Proactively manage a portfolio of complex and challenging Financial Lines (Financial Institutions, Management Liability and Qualified Indemnity) claims to resolution.
- Demonstrate robust technical claims management skills and a dedicated customer-focused approach to claims service.
- Manage claims in accordance with global reserve and handling best practice standards.
- On large losses: identify potential and actual large losses and the strategy to achieve the best outcome for the client and AXA XL; and collaborate with the Financial Lines Claims Manager, Head of Claims, Product Manager and Practice Leaders, to achieve optimum file outcome for the client and AXA XL. This is likely to involve some evening commitments when updating the APAC Europe team.
- Control expenses by implementing effective expense management throughout the claim lifecycle. Produce internal reporting in support of best practice and reserving guidelines.
- In conjunction with Underwriters, develop and enhance relationships with key brokers and clients.
- Assist Underwriters with policy review and drafting and share lessons learned and other identified trends to improve risk assessment and underwriting process.
- Actively participate in external marketing and business development activities.
- Contribute to the development and education of more junior claims team members and be a role model in best practices.
- Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, market and industry association events in a way which will build the AXA XL brand in key market segments.
- Participate in Underwriting and Actuarial account review meetings as necessary.

You will report to the Claims Manager, International Financial Lines Australia.





What you will bring

- Ideally holding appropriate qualification in Legal, Insurance or Business (eg degree in business, insurance (ACII) or general law or economics).
- Several years of technical and claims management experience in international corporate insurance.
- Leading decision maker and team player with proven ability to negotiate and analyse/solve complex problems in a timely and efficient and sometimes creative way.
- Good knowledge & understanding of insurance market and clients in country.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication. Ability to work in a quick‑paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.
- Collaborative approach: Develop and maintain productive working relationships with insured, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters and legal counsel. Provide guidance and seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible. Capable of working and collaborating with a virtual team.
- Results oriented: Approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs. Think quickly and prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality. Act with a sense of urgency.
- Continuous improvement focused: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas. Eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills and AXA XL claims capabilities.
