About the Role
The North West Maternity Service (NWMS) is seeking Registered Midwives to deliver high‑quality, women‑centred care across North West Regional Hospital, Mersey Community Hospital, and related community outreach services. The role supports antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and community care for women and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care and support to women during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, including newborn care.
- Advise, educate, and partner with patients, families, and allied health professionals to promote safe, evidence‑based outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong clinical acumen, adapt to changing circumstances, and respond calmly under pressure.
- Promote career development and a collaborative learning culture within the team.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care across the community and hospital settings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and a Registered Midwife.
- Working with Children Registration.
- Experience in a maternity or community midwifery setting is preferred.
- Commitment to a woman‑centred approach, collaboration,
and continuous quality improvement.
Salary and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $80,524 to $109,175 (pro‑rata, based on Tasmania State Service Agreement 2023).
- Superannuation contribution: 12%.
- Post‑graduate allowance up to 10% based on qualification.

- Relocation assistance: up to $15,000 for overseas applicants, up to $10,000 for interstate applicants.
Appointment Details
- Multiple permanent positions available – full time and part time.
- Hours up to 76 per fortnight; schedule negotiable with successful applicant.
- Commencement date: as soon as possible after appointment.
- Selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies for up to 12 months from publication.
Eligibility
- Must meet the essential criteria of registration and work‑with‑children credentials.
- Preferred profile includes experience in areas of perinatal mental health, lactation support, and allied health collaboration.
