The Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research (CHSSR) at Macquarie University is expanding its applied health services research team and is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A) or Research Fellow (Level B) with expertise in implementation science, co‑design and evaluation of health interventions.
Position and Compensation
- Level A – Post‑Doctoral Fellow ($89,579 – $120,621) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro‑rata rates apply for part‑time appointments.
- Level B – Research Fellow ($127,138 – $150,425) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro‑rata rates apply for part‑time appointments.
- Full‑time or part‑time, fixed‑term position for 2 years (possible extension).
- Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a portfolio of NHMRC and MRFF‑funded research programs under the Director of the Centre.
- Lead a core project: a large‑scale, multi‑site national trial evaluating an intervention to reduce a low‑value nursing practice, aiming to optimise medication safety, nursing workflows and workloads for safer care of children in hospital.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, consumers, clinicians in hospital and policy makers.
- Apply a diverse range of research methods and techniques, including RCT designs,
direct observations and mixed‑methods analyses.
Qualifications – Selection Criteria
- PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., psychology, allied health, behavioural science, health services research).
- Peer‑reviewed publications.
- Demonstrable knowledge of implementation science frameworks and their application.
- Experience in co‑designing and implementing health interventions to change clinical practice.
- Skills in applying mixed methods and analysing quantitative and qualitative data.
- Capacity to work independently and engage policy makers and clinician partners in hospitals.
Additional Criteria for Research Fellow
- Track record in managing research projects and a small research team.
- Experience measuring policy and practice change.
- Experience preparing and securing research grants.
- Track record of leading research publications and presentations.
