About the opportunity

Mercy Health is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced person to lead our Information Access Team. This role will be cross campus and can be based at either our Werribee or Heidelberg site. You will be required to manage and provide leadership to the Information Access team including management of all related policies and procedures associated with the release of health information. You will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and the legal team. A robust knowledge and understanding of Freedom of Information and Release of Information practices and policies is highly desirable. Under the direction of the Mercy Health Privacy Officer, you will be required to provide support and education to staff on all privacy related matters and assist with any privacy related breaches.

What you'll bring

- Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Health Information Management or Law or equivalent.




- Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of FOI (Freedom of Information), ROI (Release of Information) and Privacy Legislation.
- Ability to liaise with all levels of clinical and non‑clinical staff in relation to Health Information Services.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and developed leadership skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of mandatory reporting processes, medical record management and related standards and legislation.
- Enthusiastic, motivated and a team player.
- Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
- The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
