Goldfields Region manages 8.6 million hectares of conservation reserves including national parks, conservation parks, nature reserves, timber reserves, State forest and former pastoral leases (proposed reserves).
Staff within the region work with traditional owners in many of these reserves to help protect the natural and cultural values of the area and to ensure customary activities and traditional practices are maintained.
Goldfields Region is also responsible for fire preparedness, weeds and feral animal control on 40.3 million hectares of unallocated Crown land and unmanaged reserves.

We currently have three opportunities for Fire Operations Officers to join our team.
Fire Operations Officer, Level 3, DBCA3054164 and DBCA3179540
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Leader Fire Management, these positions:
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of allocated works within the Goldfields Region, including assisting with the implementation of preparedness and response activities,
prescribed burning and fire mitigation programs.
- Assist with the delivery of fire management activities within the Goldfields Region through the coordination, implementation, monitoring and reviewing of fire related projects across departmental managed lands.
- Assists with the management and maintenance of the Goldfields Region fire management equipment and infrastructure, including specialist fire-fighting equipment, vehicles and airstrips.
Fire Operations Officer, Level 4, DBCA3148238
Under the general supervision of the Regional Leader Fire Management, this position:
- Contributes to the Goldfields Region fire mitigation program.
Plans, organises and implements bushfire mitigation works including the strategic fire break network and fuel modification works across departmental managed lands.
- Undertakes a leading role in fire related projects including the preparation of maps, works prescriptions, Disturbance Activity Statements (DAS), and contract management in line with departmental standards.
The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
