Legal Counsel & Compliance Program Coordinator

About the Role:

A leading multinational organization is seeking a commercially focused Legal Counsel & Compliance Program Coordinator to join its Legal team.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a legal professional looking to expand their expertise across commercial law, compliance, governance, and risk while working within a large, fast-paced business with a significant national and international presence.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will provide practical legal advice across a broad range of commercial matters while coordinating key compliance, ethics, and governance programs.

This role offers extensive exposure to strategic business initiatives and the opportunity to partner with leaders across the organization to support sound commercial decision-making and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide practical legal advice on a broad range of commercial and corporate matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial contracts and agreements.
- Coordinate and support enterprise-wide compliance, ethics, and governance programs.
- Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of compliance frameworks and policies.
- Support regulatory compliance initiatives, including Modern Slavery, Privacy, FIRB, Ethics & Compliance, and SEDEX programs.
- Identify legal and compliance risks while providing commercially focused solutions.
- Partner with business leaders across multiple departments to support strategic business initiatives.
- Assist with governance, corporate compliance, and risk management activities.
- Develop and maintain legal policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the organization.
- Support training, awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives relating to legal compliance and governance.
- Contribute to special projects that improve operational efficiency and organizational compliance.





Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution.
- Current unrestricted Australian Practising Certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably gained within a law firm or commercial legal environment.
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Excellent commercial advisory and legal analysis skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
- Sound commercial judgment with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- Excellent written, verbal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in compliance, governance, ethics, and risk management.
