As a Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Officer in the Navy, you are at the forefront of commanding, planning, and executing critical military underwater operations, leading teams of specialist divers.

You'll command, plan, and execute crucial tasks such as mine warfare, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR).

During your career, you will be rotated through a variety of sea and shore positions.

This could include being rotated to mine hunting vessels, Australian clearance diving teams, 2nd Commando Regiment, operation and support roles, major fleet units and instructional roles.

Your duties could include, but aren’t limited to:

- Leading diving teams and assuming command roles.
- Planning and executing mine countermeasure missions within task groups.
- Serving aboard seagoing ships in command, operations, and diving officer roles.
- Supporting domestic counter-terrorism efforts and enhancing boarding party operations.
- Opportunities for roles in headquarters, instruction at ADF Diving School,



and directing capability development.

Due to the intensity and nature of the role's duties and workplace, an ongoing high degree of stamina and physical fitness is required.

Your training will equip you with all the experience you need to develop as a leader and have a broad understanding of everything that happens onboard a naval ship.

As an officer, you'll learn additional skills and duties to become highly trained and efficient in supporting the security and safety of the ship and personnel onboard.

This involves providing leadership, management, administration and career advice to sailors and junior officers within your division.
