Our team is currently providing design/advisory services to some of Queensland’s largest linear infrastructure projects, including multiple stages of the Coomera Connector Program and Inland Rail: Melbourne to Brisbane and we are looking for a civil drafter looking for a platform to leave a legacy as part of our expanding global practice.

Our Opportunity

As part of our continued growth in Australia, HDR is currently seeking a Senior Civil Drafter to contribute to the technical delivery on a diverse range of challenging infrastructure projects.

Based in Melbourne or Brisbane, you will work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to produce accurate, consistent and buildable drafting outputs. The role also provides opportunities to contribute to HDR’s digital engineering and BIM initiatives, supporting innovation in drafting standards, processes and tools across the Brisbane practice.

Responsibilities

- Prepare civil drafting and documentation for road and transport infrastructure projects using microstation.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project managers to deliver coordinated and productive drafting outcomes.




- Apply standard drafting and engineering procedures in line with project requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to other drafters and technicians, as appropriate.
- Maintain a high level of quality, accuracy and consistency across all drafting outputs.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing use of BIM systems aligned with HDR’s global processes and local market requirements.
- Support innovation and continuous improvement in Design/CAD workflows, tools, and standards.
- Assist with the integration of design outputs across platforms and systems to support project delivery.
- Contribute to safety and quality leadership aligned with HDR’s “Drive to Zero” initiative.
- Support HDR’s inclusive, collaborative culture and represent the business at technical forums where appropriate.

About You

- Typically, a minimum 5 years’ experience as a Civil Drafter ideally within road or transport infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering documentation in accordance with relevant Australian standards
- Strong capability in microstation, with experience using ProjectWise.
- Experience with AutoCAD, or the ability to quickly upskill and work effectively across both MicroStation and AutoCAD environments.
- Solid understanding of civil construction standards and documentation requirements.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and other relevant project software.
- Robust attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
- Positive interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work within multidisciplinary and culturally diverse teams.
