Are you passionate about protecting the environment and making a positive impact in the community? We are seeking a proactive and community focused Litter Enforcement Officer to join a local council team on a casual basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to combine education, investigation and compliance to help keep the municipality clean, safe and sustainable. You'll spend your days engaging with residents, investigating illegal dumping and litter offences, and ensuring compliance with local laws and environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patrols and inspections to identify littering and illegal dumping.
- Educate residents and businesses on waste disposal requirements and local laws.
- Investigate litter and dumping offences and gather evidence.
- Issue warnings and infringement notices where required.
- Prepare reports and documentation for enforcement actions and court proceedings.
- Build positive relationships with community members to encourage long term behaviour change.
- Maintain accurate records using Council systems.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in compliance, enforcement, local government, environmental services or a similar regulatory role.
- Strong investigation and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation in a practical and skilled manner.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Confidence working independently and engaging with a diverse community.
Essential Requirements
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Qualifications in environmental management, compliance, sustainability, community engagement or a related discipline are highly regarded.
