POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Clinical ICU Registered Nurse
Position Code: 254423
Department: Intensive Care Department
Reporting To: Intensive Care Nurse Unit Manager
Terms: Full Time/Part Time/Casual

1. POSITION SUMMARY
Wyvern Private Hospital is seeking dedicated and highly skilled Registered Clinical ICU
Nurses to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. The successful candidates will play a
crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care in a critical care setting. Our ICU nurses
are essential in ensuring that our patients receive exceptional care without compromise,
adhering to the highest clinical standards.
2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including monitoring
vital signs, administering medications, and implementing treatment plans.
- Perform ongoing patient assessments to identify changes in condition, report, respond
appropriately with immediate intervention when necessary.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, allied health professionals, and
other nursing staff, to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on the patient's condition, treatment plans, and recovery
processes, ensuring they are fully informed and supported.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring that all care and interventions are
thoroughly documented in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
- Follow all ICU protocols, including infection control procedures, Work Health and safety
guidelines, to maintain a secure environment for patients and staff.
- Respond swiftly and efficiently to Clinical emergencies, providing advanced life support as
necessary,
and participating in code blue and other emergency procedures.
- Engage In ongoing professional development and training, contributing to the continuous
Improvement of the ICU'S clinical practices and patient outcomes.
- Adhere to the Poisons Act and National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards

4. SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES & COMPETENCIES
4.1 Essential
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a
Registered Nurse, Division 1 (AHPRA)
- Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing or equivalent or working towards.
- Minimum of 2 years Continuous experience working in an ICU or similar critical care
environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances
- Valid Working with Children Check
- National Police Check
- 100-point check
- Full Australian Working Rights (Sponsorships not available at this stage)
- Proof of vaccinations.
- Blood Secure e learning
4.2 Desirable
- Clinical Expertise: Proficient in delivering high-quality nursing care in a critical care
environment
- With advanced skills, including management of ventilated patients, management of
inotropes, vasodilators and epidural infusions.
- Previous Neurosurgical Intensive Care experience
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to
convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
- Team work: Ability to work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, fostering a
collaborative and supportive work workplace.
- Problem-solving: Strong critical thinking and problem- solving skills, with the ability to
make sound decisions under pressure.
- Empathy & Compassion: A genuine commitment to providing compassionate care that

5. PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION REQUIREMENTS
- Complies with and demonstrates a positive commitment to the following legislation:
Nursing and Midwifery board of Australia.
- Australian Council of Critical Care Nurses (ACCN) (Desirable Membership)
