This role offers broad exposure across multiple surgical specialties within a high-volume department committed to teaching, clinical excellence, and professional development.

Position Details

- Position: Anaesthetics Fellow
- Location: Regional Victoria, Australia
- Employment Type: Full-Time Fixed Term
- Contract Dates: 1 February 2027 – 6 February 2028
- Classification: Specialist Year 1 – HM33
- Salary: AUD $132.64 per hour (excluding superannuation)
- Hours: 76 hours per fortnight

The Role

This fellowship position is based within the Surgical Services Department of a major regional tertiary referral hospital. The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced anaesthesia team delivering services across a broad range of surgical and interventional specialties.

The department provides anaesthetic and perioperative services for more than 12,000 procedures annually and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Clinical exposure includes:

- Intraoperative anaesthesia
- Pre-anaesthetic assessment
- Acute pain management
- Anaesthesia outside the operating suite
- Perioperative medicine
- Teaching and education activities throughout the hospital

Teaching & Professional Development

As an accredited training site, the department has a strong focus on education and mentorship. The Anaesthetics Fellow will contribute to the teaching and supervision of:

- Anaesthetic trainees
- Junior medical staff
- Medical students
- Nursing staff
