About DFBM

DFBM manages residential and mixed-use strata buildings across Sydney. Owners corporations appoint us to look after their buildings — the maintenance, the contractors, the compliance and the day-to-day running of the place.

We're growing our portfolio and would like aspring and dedicated students to jump onbaord with us.

About the role

You'll work alongside our Building Manager two or three days a week, learning the trade of building and facilities management from the ground up.

Nobody expects you to arrive knowing what an Annual Fire Safety Statement is. You'll be shown. What we're looking for is someone reliable, curious and comfortable talking to people — from a plumber in a basement plant room to an owner who wants to know why their lift was out on Tuesday.

What you'll be doing

You'll start with the fundamentals and take on more as you go.

From day one

- Site inspections — walking buildings, noting defects and presentation issues, taking photos, writing them up
- Coordinating with cleaners, gardeners and waste
- Managing keys, fobs and access registers
- Logging resident requests and following them through to resolution

As you build up

- Raising work orders, chasing quotes and verifying completed works before sign-off
- Meeting contractors on site and checking scope against invoice
- Maintaining compliance registers — fire safety servicing, contractor insurances, plant maintenance logs
- Assisting with defects and ongoing maintenances
- Helping prepare inspection reports for owners corporations and strata committees

What you'll actually learn

- How strata buildings operates, financially and physically
- Contractor management — scoping, pricing, supervising and holding people to account
- NSW building compliance,

fire safety and WHS obligations in practice, not just in a textbook
- Professional written reporting to committees and owners

What we're looking for

Essential

- Available a minimum of two weekdays per week during business hours
- Reliable and punctual buildings and contractors run to a schedule
- Clear written English; you'll be writing reports people will read
- Comfortable dealing with residents, tradespeople and building professionals face to face
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Willing to undergo a National Police Check

Helpful, not required

- Driver's licence and access to a vehicle (most of our portfolio is close to public transportation)
- Study in property, construction management, facilities management, engineering, or business
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)

What we offer

- Hands-on training from an experienced Building Manager
- Hands on experience that are highly transferrable skills in the construction & property industry
- Genuine flexibility around your timetable
- Support for university work-integrated learning or internship unit requirements, if your degree includes one
- A small team where you'll be trusted with real responsibility early

How to apply

Send your CV and a short note — a few paragraphs is plenty — telling us what you're studying, when you finish, and which days you're free, to [email protected].

No industry experience necessary. Applications are reviewed as they arrive, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

If you have any questions please reach out to Alexander on 0414 512 845 or [email protected]

DFBM is an equal prospect employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
