ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Principal Category Manager to join our Supply team and play a critical role in the delivery of major projects and energy sourcing strategies across the business.

Reporting to the Manager Category, this position will lead the end-to-end sourcing and contracting process for major projects and energy-related categories. You will provide strategic commercial leadership, drive value through category management, and support stakeholders in the successful execution of complex sourcing initiatives.





This is a highly influential role that partners closely with operational and functional leaders to deliver commercial outcomes, manage supplier relationships, and support business growth.

This role is a permanent position based at Unanderra, Wollongong in the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

- Lead strategic sourcing activities for our Major Projects and Sustaining Capital from market engagement through to contract award.
- Deliver market intelligence and identify opportunities to strengthen and diversify supplier capability.
- Design sourcing strategies that engage the most appropriate domestic and international suppliers.
- Lead commercial negotiations to secure optimal outcomes across cost, supply certainty, risk mitigation, and value creation.
- Provide commercial advice and support to stakeholders during project delivery and contract execution.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure regular communication across the business.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

ABOUT YOU

You are a commercially minded and strategic procurement professional with extensive experience in sourcing, category management, and major project delivery.

Skills & Experience





- Minimum 10 years' experience in strategic sourcing and category management.
- Minimum 5 years' experience managing major projects.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects valued at A$50M+.
- Sound understanding of commercial frameworks including construction contracts, manufacturing and supply agreements, and insurance requirements.
- Familiarity with AEMO, energy retailers, and tolling arrangements.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management abilities.
- Mining, metals, construction, or related industry experience highly regarded.
