Tradewind Australia is partnering with a community-based Domestic & Family Violence support service to recruit for a compassionate & resilient locum Support Worker within the Mackay region.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Family Violence Support Worker will work alongside the specialist FV team to support crisis response and case management services for victim survivors of family violence who access the Family Violence Refuge Services (TSA FVS) in Mackay.
The role will support the delivery of high quality, safe and effective family violence and child well-being responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery in the refuge. The role will also support implementation of client led case plans, referring complex matters to Specialist FV Practitioners and/or the leadership team.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clients accessing the service are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact and urgent and immediate needs are addressed
- In consultation with more senior worker/s appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high-risk situations
- Information is provided to assist in assessing and addressing client issues, needs and circumstances
- Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation
- Work alongside Senior Workers/ Practitioner to implement case plans for clients in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice
- Clients are actively encouraged to engage in the implementation of case plans
- Clients are assisted to access support services
- Activities are monitored and clearly communicated to relevant staff for handover
- Accurate, up to date client records and data is maintained for all clients in accordance with TSA standards and procedures
- Where there are no allocated tasks and/or if the assigned tasks have been actioned, it is the responsibility of the Support Worker to proactively review cases and assist with any outstanding tasks related to client intake and in achieving case plans
- Risks to clients, staff and TSA are identified and bought to the attention of the Team Leader as soon as possible
- Appropriate preventative action is taken to address workplace hazards as per TSA procedure
- Incidents are reported in the required format/s to the Team Leader as per TSA and funding body procedures
- Service gaps are identified and recommendations for service delivery improvements are made to the Team Leader
- Participate in team meetings and capacity building opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Certificate IV qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field OR demonstrated equivalent knowledge and skills attained through previous appointments,
service and study/development
- Relevant experience in a social service environment [preferably in the FV sector]

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE
- A national police record check is required
- Current Working With Children Check (Blue Card)
- Current QLD Drivers Licence
- Evidence of qualifications (where relevant)
- Compulsory Code of Conduct, WHS and Bullying and Harassment training modules are completed and up to date.
