Multiple Positions Available: Senior Shotfirer, MPU Operator and Blast Crew.

Work Location: Quarry Work and Site Work available, across Various Western Australian locations.

Roster: Full time and Casual work available; roster depends on role and site.

Goldfields Explosives is expanding our Quarry and Site Services teams and we’re seeking an experienced Senior Shotfirer, MPU Operators and Blast Crew to lead safe, efficient, and high‑quality blasting operations across our customer sites throughout WA.

Key accountabilities include:

- Work closely with the Drill & Blast Supervisory team to ensure protected and efficient delivery of blasting objectives

- Work closely with the High-performance blasting teams Loading/Unloading MPU's/Road trains

- Perform daily inspections of plant and equipment

- Support and actively participate in delivery of the Goldfields Explosives Policies, Procedures and Safe Systems of Work





- Lead and execute drill and blast activities in accordance with site requirements and daily plans

- Provide guidance and mentorship to Shotfirers within the team

- Mark out, prime, load, stem and tie-in blast patterns to a high technical standard

- Conduct blast guard duties and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements

- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support operational change initiatives

- Collaborate with the broader Drill & Blast team to consistently meet production targets

- Lead and supervise all Shotfiring activities on quarry sites

- Manage loading, tying‑in, and firing of blasts in accordance with design and safety standards

- Provide direction, mentoring, and on‑the‑job training to Blast Crew members

- Conduct pre‑blast inspections, risk assessments, and safety briefings

- Maintain accurate records, including magazine logs and blast reports

- Ensure compliance with WA Dangerous Goods legislation and site‑specific requirements

- Liaise professionally with quarry managers, drill contractors, and customers

- Uphold high standards of housekeeping, environmental care, and product stewardship

- Report incidents, variations, or product performance concerns promptly

- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives

Qualifications and skills required:





- Minimum 2-3+ years’ experience in Shotfirer roles within large-scale mining operations is required

- Minimum 1-2 years of MPU Operator experience is required

- 6-12 months Blast Crew experience is required

- Dangerous Goods Security Card (DGSC) essential

- Dangerous Good Drivers Licence (DGDL) essential for MPU Operators

- Australian Drivers Licence essential (Unrestricted HR Licence desired)

- WA Shotfirer Licence essential (or ability to obtain)

- Proven experience as a Shotfirer in quarry or open‑cut environments

- Strong working knowledge of blasting procedures, explosives handling, and storage regulations

- High commitment to safety, integrity, and operational discipline

- Ability to lead small teams and work with minimal supervision

- Solid communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset

- Must be Perth/Western Australian based

- Willing to work in a hot, humid and dusty mining environment

- Positive, adaptable and team-oriented attitude

- Proven Experience working within large scale mining operation

- Australian citizenship is required for this role
