About the position:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Mining Engineer (Alternate Quarry Manager) to join Boab Metals, as we move closer to production. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in the establishment and ongoing success of a new mining operation, where your expertise will directly influence mine performance, operational readiness, and long-term value creation.

This role will suit a technically strong and commercially minded mining professional who enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines, solving complex challenges, and driving operational excellence in a dynamic project environment.

You will provide technical leadership through mine planning, operational optimisation, contractor management, and statutory compliance. As the appointed Alternate Quarry Manager, you will play a key role in supporting safe and compliant mining activities while contributing to the successful execution of the mining strategy, working closely with site operations, geology, processing, environment, and project teams to ensure mining activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with business objectives.

Your expertise will be instrumental in establishing systems, processes, and engineering standards that will support Sorby Hills through commissioning, ramp-up, and future operational growth.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

· Developing and maintaining short, medium, and long-term mine plans aligned with business objectives.

· Providing technical guidance to mining operations to optimise productivity, safety, equipment utilisation,



and cost performance.

· Monitoring operational performance against budgets, forecasts, and production targets.

· Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across mining activities, including drill and blast, pit design, haulage, and resource recovery.

· Supporting contractor performance management through technical oversight and collaboration.

· Conducting operational reviews and mining studies to improve overall mine performance.

· Assisting with annual budgets, forecasts, and life-of-mine planning activities.

· Ensuring mining activities are conducted in accordance with statutory obligations, company standards, and industry best practices.

· Performing Alternate Quarry Manager duties and supporting the Quarry Manager in meeting legislative requirements.

· Preparing technical reports, operational dashboards, and management presentations.

· Mentoring and supporting graduate and junior mining engineers as the team grows.

Skills and Experience:

· Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering.

· Eligibility for appointment as an Alternate Quarry Manager under Western Australian mining legislation.

· Minimum 8–10 years' experience in open pit mining environments.





· Demonstrated experience in mine planning, scheduling, and operational optimisation.

· Working knowledge of mine design, drill and blast practices, production engineering, and contractor mining operations.

· Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing pit dewatering and intensive groundwater management strategies to support safe and efficient mining operations.

· Proficiency in industry-standard mining software.

· Strong commercial awareness and understanding of cost drivers within open pit operations.

· Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence outcomes across multidisciplinary teams.

· A proactive and hands-on approach with a solid commitment to safety leadership.
