Job Opportunity: Family Support Worker/Mentor

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Family Support Worker to join our team. This rewarding role focuses on supporting children and families by providing trauma informed safe, positive, and child-centred services within the community.

About the Role:

As a Family Support Worker, you will work directly with children and families to promote safety, wellbeing, and positive family relationships. You will play an important role in supporting children through supervised family contact, community mentoring, and protected transportation to appointments and visits.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise family contact visits in accordance with care plans and organisational policies.

Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and emotional needs of children during all interactions.

Transport children safely to and from family visits, appointments, school, and community activities.

Build positive, supportive relationships through mentoring and role modelling.

Observe, document, and report on family interactions and children's wellbeing.

Maintain accurate case notes and incident reports within required timeframes.

Work collaboratively with families, case managers, government agencies, and other service providers.

Support children to develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.

Maintain professional boundaries while demonstrating empathy and respect.

Essential Requirements

Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Social Work, or a related field (or working towards).

Current Working With Children Check.

National Police Clearance.

Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Current unrestricted driver's licence.

Willingness to travel and transport children using an approved vehicle.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.

Desirable:

Experience in supervised family contact.

Experience working with children who have experienced trauma.

Knowledge of child protection legislation and trauma-informed practice.

Experience:
