Permacast is a leading WA precast concrete manufacturer based in Cardup, south of Perth. We've moved to a centre-led procurement model, and now we need the right person to build it — from the ground up.
This is not a caretaker role. We need the fundamentals done well first — inventory management, purchasing discipline and supplier data integrity — and from there, we're looking for someone to take us from transactional buying to genuinely strategic procurement.
You'll report directly to the CEO and hold a seat on the Senior Leadership Team, giving you the mandate and visibility to drive real change.
Permacast is a mid-tier business, not a large corporate. Decisions are made quickly, bureaucracy is minimal, and you'll see the impact of your work on the factory floor. If you're a capable, hands-on operator who would rather build something than inherit it, we'd encourage you to apply.
What you'll do
- Build the centre-led procurement and supply chain function from the ground up — processes, tools and controls that actually get used.
- Get the fundamentals right: inventory management, stock control and purchasing discipline across Stores and Production.
- Shift us from transactional to strategic — supplier tiering and evaluation, spend consolidation, better commercial terms.
- Review and negotiate supplier terms in partnership with legal and executive stakeholders.
- Own procurement governance — practical policies, controls and value for money, without the bureaucracy.
- Coordinate suppliers, service providers and deliveries to site, working closely with Production, Projects, Stores and Finance to keep schedules on track.
- Analyse spend and inventory data and lead reporting to the SLT and board, using systems such as Pronto and Quick Links.
- Lead, mentor and grow a small procurement team as the function matures.
What you'll bring
- A can-do, hands-on approach — you're as comfortable in the store as you are in the boardroom.
- Proven procurement and supply chain experience, ideally in construction, manufacturing or infrastructure.
- A track record of building or significantly improving procurement systems and processes — not just running an established function.
- Solid inventory management experience: stock control, min/max settings, stocktakes and demand planning.
- Solid supplier evaluation, due diligence and contract negotiation skills.
- Sound knowledge of procurement compliance, contract terms, risk management, and relevant Australian standards, WHS and ethical sourcing practices.
- Confidence with ERP and procurement systems (Pronto and Quick Links desirable) and strong Excel.
- Commercial acumen, plain-speaking communication and a continuous-improvement mindset.
- A tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement or a related field (desirable).
- A current White Card, or willingness to obtain one.
