Aertex Group Pty Ltd is an Australian-owned company based in the Northern Territory, providing civil construction, traffic management, line marking and roadside infrastructure services across urban, regional and remote locations. Due to continued business growth and ongoing project commitments, we are seeking experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our team in Alice Springs.
About the Role
The Diesel Motor Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel engines, heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers, civil construction plant and associated equipment. This role is essential to ensuring Aertex Group's fleet and machinery operate safely, efficiently and reliably to support the delivery of civil construction, traffic management, line marking and infrastructure projects throughout the Northern Territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, service and repair diesel engines and associated mechanical components.
- Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers and civil construction equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, suspension and hydraulic components.
- Perform engine overhauls, rebuilds and major mechanical repairs as required.
- Maintain and repair plant and equipment to minimize downtime and maximize operational reliability.
- Attend vehicle and equipment breakdowns and undertake field repairs when required.
- Test and inspect repaired vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and repair documentation.
- Recommend repair priorities and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Follow company Safe Work Method Statements, maintenance procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and work environment.
- Relevant trade qualification as a Diesel Motor Mechanic or equivalent.
- Minimum three years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Experience servicing and repairing heavy diesel vehicles and plant.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Solid commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Experience working on civil construction plant and equipment.
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- HR or HC Driver Licence.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Experience working in regional or remote environments.
