What you’ll be doing
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory to ensure accurate, timely and consistent analytical results.
- Leading and supporting a small laboratory team (one team member outside of vintage, expanding to two to three during vintage).
- Working closely with the winemaking team to support production through laboratory analysis and wine trials.
- Maintaining laboratory records, documentation and quality systems to meet audit and compliance standards.
- Overseeing laboratory equipment, consumables, calibration and general laboratory management.
- Contributing as an active member of the site's HACCP team, supporting food safety and quality objectives.
- Driving continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing laboratory systems, processes and procedures.
- Participating as an active member of the site management team, contributing to operational planning and business improvement initiatives.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds tertiary qualifications in Laboratory Science or a related discipline.
- Has at least 3 years' laboratory experience.
- Enjoys leading by example and is comfortable undertaking hands-on laboratory work alongside the team.
- Has previous winery laboratory experience (preferred but not essential).
- Is highly organised, reliable and has excellent attention to detail.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive, collaborative approach.
- Thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment and can effectively manage competing priorities.
- Takes initiative and is committed to maintaining high standards while continuously improving processes.
