About the role
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join the culinary team at Hospitality Management Services. This is a full-time position based in Hope Island, QLD 4212, offering an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise and creativity in a dynamic hospitality environment.
As a Chef, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety whilst leading kitchen operations.
What you'll be doing
Planning, preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
Maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation and portion control
Managing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques and plating
Supervising and training kitchen staff to ensure consistency in food preparation and adherence to food safety standards
Implementing and maintaining strict food hygiene and safety protocols in compliance with industry regulations
Managing inventory, monitoring stock levels and placing orders for culinary supplies
Creating and developing new menu items and seasonal specials that align with the restaurant's concept
Working collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
Adhering to cost control measures to maximise profitability without compromising quality
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar senior cooking role within a professional kitchen
Strong culinary knowledge with expertise in food preparation, cooking methods and plating techniques
Demonstrable understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and HACCP principles
Leadership and team management abilities with the capacity to supervise and mentor kitchen staff
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure during service
Creative flair and the ability to innovate menu offerings while maintaining quality standards
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all team members
A passion for culinary excellence and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences
Relevant qualifications such as a hospitality or culinary qualification or professional chef certification (preferred)
Current Food Safety Supervisor or Food Handling certification (or willingness to obtain)
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
