THIS POSITION IS BASED IN MUNDARING.

Responsibilities

- Supports the District Fire Coordinator in planning and implementing the district’s annual Burn Options Program at a senior level.
- Supports the District Fire Coordinator in undertaking liaison with key stakeholders associated with fire management programs and represents the District Fire Coordinator at meetings associated with fire management activities.
- Ensures the Urban Interface fire mitigation team deliver on program expectations.
- Ensures the district fire tower staff are available, trained and supervised throughout the fire season.
- Liaises with regional, district and Fire Management Services personnel to assist in preparing and planning the district fire management works programs within agreed timeframes.
- Fulfills senior incident management roles for the district, and provides support, mentoring and leadership to the remainder of the district staff in relation to fire capacity.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following four criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four pages in total.

- Considerable operational experience in the management of fire related activities, including fire suppression procedures, liaison with other firefighting and emergency organisations, planning and implementing prescribed burning programs.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with external organisations, including local authorities, private companies, other government agencies, stakeholders (including indigenous) and community interest groups.
- Evidence of highly developed skills in leading and managing teams,



including preparing and implementing works programs, scheduling work, setting goals and controlling and reviewing progress, including experience in managing volunteers and contractors.
- Demonstrated experience in using fire management as a land management tool to achieve biodiversity conservation, and park and forest management outcomes.
