About the role

Illawarra Formwork is seeking an experienced Formwork Carpenter/Labourer to join our dynamic team based in Wollongong, NSW. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction projects across the Illawarra region. You will play a crucial role in the planning, construction, and installation of formwork systems that are essential to the structural integrity of major building projects. This position is integral to our operations and provides the foundation for delivering high-quality construction solutions to our clients.

Key responsibilities

1. Construct, assemble, and install formwork systems according to engineering specifications and project drawings

2. Measure, cut, and fit timber and other materials to exact specifications

3. Operate power tools and hand tools safely and efficiently

4. Support the formwork team in lifting, positioning, and securing structural elements

5. Inspect formwork installations to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements

6. Assist in the dismantling and removal of formwork following concrete curing

7. Maintain a clean and organised work site and ensure all materials are stored appropriately

8. Adhere to all health and safety protocols and site-specific requirements

9. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate activities

10. Support troubleshooting efforts to resolve any formwork-related issues on site

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience working as a formwork carpenter or labourer in the building trades industry

2. Sound knowledge of formwork systems, materials, and construction methodologies

3.



Proficiency with hand tools and power tools commonly used in formwork construction

4. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately

5. Strong mathematical skills for measuring and calculating dimensions

6. Physical capability to perform manual labour, including lifting and working at heights

7. Current Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain one

8. Commitment to health and safety best practices and compliance with site regulations

9. Excellent teamwork and communication skills

10. Reliability and punctuality in meeting project deadlines

11. Experience working on concrete construction projects or knowledge of concrete formwork is highly desirable

12. Relevant qualifications in carpentry or construction trades are advantageous
