Head of Faculty – Science

Lauriston Girls' School is seeking a Head of Science to join our community. This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about curriculum, evidence-informed practice and the development of both students and staff.

The successful candidate will lead a collaborative faculty spanning Years 7–12 and work closely with colleagues across the School to strengthen continuity, progression and excellence in Science learning. About the role

- Head of Faculty position of responsibility – 3 year tenure
- Full-time, ongoing teaching position
- Commencing January 2027

Reporting to the Head of Senior School, the Head of Science provides strategic and pedagogical leadership across the Science Faculty. The role oversees curriculum development, assessment and faculty operations, while supporting excellence in teaching and learning from Years 7 to 12. Working collaboratively with Junior and Senior School colleagues, the Head of Science helps ensure a cohesive and connected approach to Science education,



strengthening the transition between year levels and supporting students' growth as confident and capable learners.

We are seeking a candidate with:

- A passion for girls' education and the wellbeing, growth and success of young people
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum leadership and the ability to lead and inspire a high-performing team
- Deep knowledge of contemporary Science education and evidence-informed teaching and learning practices
- The ability to develop and implement a clear vision for Science education that fosters curiosity, challenge and academic excellence
- Experience using data, research and evidence to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement
- A commitment to building continuity and progression in learning, working collaboratively across Junior and Senior School to create a connected Science journey for students
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families and colleagues
- Strong organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational responsibilities
