This role will be responsible for developing accurate drawings, 3D models and CAM files that take projects from design information through to manufacture and installation.

The successful applicant will have strong technical drafting skills, a practical understanding of manufacturing, and the ability to work closely with project, production and installation teams.

Key responsibilities

- Review drawings to identify potential manufacturing, coordination or installation issues before production.

3D modelling and CAM preparation

- Prepare CAM files for CNC machinery, including CNC routers, turret punch presses and press brakes.

- Ensure drawings and CAM files are accurate and aligned with PMP’s manufacturing capabilities.

- Assist with nesting, material utilisation and manufacturing efficiency where required.

- Experience with Metalix software will be highly regarded.

Applicants with strong drafting experience who are willing and able to develop their Autodesk Inventor or CAM programming skills are also encouraged to apply.

Manufacturing support

- Assist with production planning and sequencing where required.

Site and installation support

- Prepare installation drawings and supporting documentation.

- Provide technical support to project and installation teams as required.

- Attend site to carry out site measure.

- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve design and constructability issues.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar drafting or detailing role.

- Previous experience in sheet metal, metal fabrication, architectural products or a related manufacturing workplace.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD.

- Experience using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, or the demonstrated ability and willingness to learn.

- Experience preparing drawings and files for CNC manufacturing.

- The ability to interpret architectural, engineering and fabrication drawings.

- The ability to estimate and quantify materials and project requirements from architectural and structural drawings would be advantageous.

- Strong technical drafting and problem-solving skills.

- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Well-developed time management and organisational skills.

- The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

- Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.

- The ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, production staff and installation teams.

A Certificate, Diploma, trade qualification or equivalent practical experience in drafting, design, engineering or metal fabrication will be highly regarded.

Experience with Metalix, CNC turret punching, CNC routing, press brake programming or perforated metal products would be an advantage but is not essential.

The ideal candidate will be practical, organised and comfortable working in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

You take pride in producing accurate work, can identify potential issues before they reach the factory or site, and understand that good detailing is essential to efficient manufacturing and installation.

You will also be comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
