As a result of a secured engagement with one of our National Security partners, Helix requires a Linux Engineer to join us.

We're looking for a Linux Engineer with proven experience of solving complex problems in enterprise integration environments, who thrives working as part of a team to push boundaries and is passionate about leveraging technology to produce world-class outcomes for critical federal government organisations.

Linux Engineer key responsibilities:

- Working as part of a team to automate the repeatable delivery of Linux based operating systems, applications, and configuration.
- Implementing cyber security related patches for applications and operating systems based on urgency and applicability
- Development of a RedHat Linux SOE with applicable ACSC hardening for deployment in virtualised VMWare based environments.
- Working closely with other disciplines within the delivery team to ensure that the services and applications being deployed align to best practices.
- Development of detailed design and operational artefacts supporting the delivery.
- Assisting with planning for a multi-phase delivery.

Linux Engineer essential experience & capability:

- Automating the delivery and of Linux operating systems and applications.
- Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Knowledge and experience in 3rd party automation tools including Terraform and Ansible.
- Deploying and managing a variety of Linux-based technologies at enterprise scale.
- Knowledge and experience in Linux system management toolsets
- Knowledge and experience in patching, testing, and maintaining an enterprise sized Linux environment
- Knowledge and experience in supporting Linux based Software, Systems,



and databases.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and processes in context of security patch management
- Knowledge and experience in Application deployment, including change and release management processes
- Working knowledge of DevSecOps principles and exposure to CI/CD methodologies.
- NV2 clearance is a minimum requirement for this environment

Linux Engineer experience:

- Networking fundamentals.
- Working with VMWare products.
- Experience working in a DevSecOps model to develop and promote code, with a robust emphasis on CI/CD methodologies.
- Working with Containerised Systems.
- Understanding of Essential 8 and conforming with ISM requirements.
- Application packaging and deployment techniques.
- Experience in administration and management of cloud environments, such as AWS.
- Proven ability to work independently, and within a multi-discipline team
- Proven ability to mentor and influence team members
- Proven ability to work to a project schedule and achieve successful client-focused outcomes
- Demonstrable experience proving a customer focus and passion for delivery
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Ability to conduct research, as well as rapidly learn new concepts and tasks, with a view of improving technical knowledge and skills.
