We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Workshop Controller to join our busy automotive dealership in Perth.
This is a key leadership position responsible for coordinating the daily operation of the workshop, allocating work to technicians and ensuring all repairs and servicing are completed efficiently, accurately and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the service workshop, ensuring efficient workflow and resource allocation.
- Schedule and allocate repair and servicing work based on technician skills, qualifications, and workshop priorities.
- Monitor job progress, labour utilisation, and workshop productivity to ensure work is completed efficiently and within promised timeframes.
- Identify and communicate delays, additional repair requirements, or workflow issues to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Liaise closely with Service Advisors, Technicians, and the Parts Department to ensure the smooth and timely completion of all work.
- Ensure all repair orders, technician job notes, timesheets, warranty claims, and internal repair documentation are completed accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to technicians, including assistance with diagnostics, manufacturer procedures, and complex repairs.
- Conduct or coordinate quality control inspections to ensure repairs meet company, manufacturer, and customer expectations before vehicle release.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, workplace safety, housekeeping and compliance within the workshop.
- Assist with the training, development and performance of workshop staff, fostering a productive and professional team environment.
- Resolve workshop operational issues and customer concerns promptly and professionally.
About You
To be successful in this role,
you will bring previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman, Leading Hand, or Senior Technician, along with a qualified automotive technician background and strong mechanical and diagnostic skills. You are a natural leader who can motivate and support a team while maintaining a productive and positive workshop workplace.
You have excellent organisational and time management skills, allowing you to effectively coordinate multiple jobs and priorities in a fast-paced workshop. Your communication style is clear, professional, and collaborative, enabling you to build strong working relationships with technicians, service advisors, customers, and other departments.
You take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and are committed to achieving strong productivity outcomes while ensuring customer satisfaction. In addition, you are confident using computers and dealership management systems and hold a current Australian driver's licence and full Australian working rights.
