About Our PACC
Since 2022, Our PACC has been committed to improving the liveability and quality of life of people living with disability. We deliver person-centred, respectful, and goal-focused support across Supported Independent Living, SDA and community-based services.
We are currently building a team of experienced Disability Support Workers to support participants with high and complex support needs in a SIL/SDA setting in the Northern suburbs.
About the Role
This role is suited to experienced support workers who understand that quality support goes beyond completing tasks. You will play a key role in supporting a participant to feel safe, respected, and at home, while working towards their NDIS goals, independence, and quality of life.
You will be supporting a participant who presents with complex behaviours, requiring emotional maturity, strong engagement skills, and the ability to remain calm, consistent, and professional in challenging situations.
What Support Looks Like at Our PACC
We are seeking workers who can:
- Build genuine rapport through meaningful conversation and everyday engagement
- Understand the art of small talk and natural connection, not scripted interactions
- Demonstrate empathy and the ability to see situations from the participant’s perspective
- Create a homely, calm, and respectful environment within a SIL/SDA home
- Support participants to work towards their personal goals, rather than doing tasks for them
- Recognise early signs of escalation and confidently apply de-escalation strategies
- Provide consistent, trauma-informed support aligned with behaviour support plans
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred support in line with NDIS plans and individual support strategies
- Support daily living activities while promoting independence, dignity, and choice
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans and follow approved strategies
- Engage participants in meaningful daily activities and community access
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and incident reporting
- Work collaboratively with families, allied health professionals, and internal teams
- Follow all organisational policies, NDIS Practice Standards, and safe work procedures
- Positive Behaviour Support, De-escalation and Restrictive Practices
- Shift Leadership and Staff Support
- Emergency Preparedness, WHS and Environmental Safety
- Prepare and assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of participant care/support plans, while monitoring progress and actively supporting participants to achieve their individual goals.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting people with complex behaviours and/or high support needs
- Certificate III in Disability, Individual Support, Mental Health, or a related field (or higher)
- Demonstrated experience managing and de-escalating behaviours of concern
- Strong verbal communication skills and confidence engaging participants in conversation
- High level of empathy, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness
- Ability to maintain qualified boundaries while building positive relationships
- Strong understanding of person-centred and trauma-informed practice
Mandatory Requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Check
- Current DHS Working With Children Check
- Valid First Aid & CPR
- Medication Administration Certificate
- Manual Handling Certificate
- Australian Driver’s Licence
- Availability to work a 24/7 roster, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts
Desirable (but not essential)
- CPI Verbal Intervention and/or Safety Intervention training
- Experience working in SIL or SDA environments
- Experience supporting participants with mental health and dual diagnoses
- Lived experience supporting people with complex needs
Employment Conditions
- Casual employment under the SCHADS Award, in line with the Fair Work Act
- Casual loading applies as per Award conditions
- Shifts offered based on service needs and worker availability
