QA Manager – Food Manufacturing (SQF Certified Facility)

iPastai is a growing Australian food manufacturer specialising in premium fresh and frozen pasta, gnocchi, and ready meals. We’re looking for an experienced QA Manager to lead our Quality and Food Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with SQF Code, WHS regulations, and customer standards.

This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, is confident managing audits, risk, and compliance, and can build a strong food safety culture on the factory floor.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety & Quality Assurance

- Maintain and continuously improve Pasta Group (iPastai) SQF-based Quality Management System.

- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, FSANZ, and customer specifications.

- Prepare for and lead 3rd-party audits (SQF Certification, customer audits, regulatory inspections).

- Oversee product release, raw material verification, and in-process inspections.

- Lead non-conformance investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

- Manage allergen control, labelling compliance, and product traceability systems.

- Own document control: SOPs, forms, and specifications.

Health & Safety

- Partner with production and operations to maintain a safe workplace.

- Conduct WHS risk assessments, incident reporting, and hazard mitigation.

- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and internal safety policies.

- Champion a proactive safety, hygiene, and wellbeing culture.

Leadership & Culture

- Supervise QA/QC staff and coordinate cross-functional training (HACCP, GMP,



hygiene).

- Promote food safety and quality ownership across all teams.

- Provide coaching and training for production and operations staff.

- Support NPD with QA input on specifications and compliance.

What We’re Looking For

- Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality, or related field (tertiary qualification desirable).

- 3–5 years’ QA experience in food manufacturing, ideally with fresh or ready-to-eat products.

- Proven experience managing SQF certification programs.

- Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSANZ labelling, and WHS regulations.

- Demonstrated success in preparing for and leading 3rd-party audits.

- Excellent communication, organisation, and attention to detail.

- Strong leadership skills to engage, influence, and educate factory floor teams.

- Solid experience in product traceability studies.

Bonus Skills

- Internal Auditor certification (SQF, HACCP, GMP).

- Experience with ERP systems (Datapel, SAP, or similar).

- Root cause analysis skills (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
