The School of Architecture and Built Workplace is seeking to appoint two Lecturers in Criminology (Education-Focused Academics) to contribute to the delivery and development of the Bachelor of Criminology and related programs at UTS. These opportunities provide the chance to join a growing discipline with a strong reputation for applied, translational and industry-connected criminology.

About the Opportunities Available:

- One continuing full time position (1.0 FTE);
- One fixed-term part time position (0.5 FTE) for two years.

About the Roles

UTS Criminology adopts an applied and translational approach to crime, justice and public safety. The discipline prepares students to respond to the changing nature of crime in the 21st century, including digital, transnational and complex social harms. Our curriculum is industry-informed and aligned with contemporary developments in criminal justice, policing, crime prevention, community safety and public policy.

About You

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate they are passionate about teaching and creating engaging learning experiences that inspire students to think critically about crime, justice, and public safety. With expertise in criminology/policing, you bring a strong understanding of contemporary issues such as crime science, policing, crime prevention, community safety and/or criminal justice, and enjoy connecting theory with real-world practice.

You will need to demonstrate that you are committed to teaching excellence and curriculum innovation and are motivated by helping students develop the knowledge and skills needed to address complex social challenges. You value industry engagement and bring a contemporary, evidence-informed perspective to your teaching, whether through research, professional practice or partnerships with industry and government.

Most importantly, you will be excited to contribute to the continued growth of UTS Criminology,



a discipline known for its applied and translational approach, industry connections and focus on preparing graduates to make a meaningful impact in the world.

As an Education Focused academic, you will play a key role in shaping exceptional student learning experiences through teaching, curriculum leadership and pedagogical scholarship.As an Education-Focused Academic, the successful candidates will engage primarily in teaching and pedagogical scholarship, with a research component included within the full time (1.0 FTE) opportunity.

Base Salary Range: $127,119 to $150,453 per annum* (Academic Level B - Education-Focused)*pro rata (0.5FTE) for the fixed-term opportunity

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

A hybrid work arrangement is available which comprises of working onsite at the UTS Broadway Sydney campus and remote working.
