About the role
The Operations Manager provides operational guidance and support to the Management agreement of two research vessels to Australian Institute of Marine Science.
This role is responsible for:
- Applying the QHSE policy of the organisation
- Maintaining assets to the standards expected of the company.
- Providing a safe a reliable of fleet of vessels to best serve our customers
- Assisting in coordinating assets for day to day operations and projects of two research vessels.
- Provide support to Australian Institute of Marine Science for any operational needs to two research vessels.
What we're looking for
The successful applicant will have the following:
- Demonstrated ability to continuously endorse a safety culture.
- Relevant Marine qualifications (MED1 / Master <35m NC).
- Marine crew management experience.
- Experience with ISM, ISO, and Class and AMSA requirements.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to champion Quality, Health, Safety and Environment policies.
- Experience in Oil & Gas safety requirements highly desirable.
- Technical and Engineering experience on all vessel based ancillary equipment.

- Support vessel compliance and defect rectification
- Monitor QHSE and Safety Management Systems
- Maximize vessel availability and reliability
- Coach crews and maintenance teams
- Build stakeholder relationships
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct internal technical audits
- Manage Planned Maintenance System updates
- Coordinate Out-Of-Commission activities
- Ensure vessel certification compliance
- Lead QHSE activities and incident reporting
- Provide support to the Senior Technical Superintendent
